A few months ago, one of my colleagues asked me if I'd be interested in helping him with a project. He wanted to put together groups of fourth and fifth graders who could write books as part of Scholastic's Kids are Authors program. Without hesitation, I signed on.
What a wonderful experience! As a counselor, I have many opportunities to interact with my students, but I don't typically interact with them on academic projects. Scott finished putting the packages together yesterday, and our kids did an awesome job. It's so wonderful to see creativity nurtured in our results-oriented world of education, and I'm proud to have played a small part in this project.
